Destination Sturgeon Bay Names New Director

Destination Sturgeon Bay has chosen a hometown girl as its new executive director.

Cameryn Ehlers-Kwaterski has been named by DSB’s board of directors to replace Pam Seiler, who will retire at the end of 2021. Ehlers-Kwaterski is a 2009 graduate of Sturgeon Bay High School.

“We are extremely excited to welcome Cameryn back to her hometown and to our Destination Sturgeon Bay organization,” said board president Barbara Pfeifer. “Cameryn possesses the necessary talents and strengths to keep Sturgeon Bay moving forward and being the best possible place to live, work, and relax. Her love and pride for Sturgeon Bay are impossible to miss, and we look forward to watching this rising star in tourism lend her talents to our community.”

Ehlers-Kwaterski said the groundwork laid by Seilers was one of the reasons she was drawn to the position.

“To see how involved Pam has been in tourism and economic development is inspiring,” she said. “The close relationship with the city. The things that she’s done to help move the city forward. It’s exciting and not the norm in most tourism marketing jobs. We’re not only attracting visitors but being part of the development and progress of the city of Sturgeon Bay.”

Ehlers-Kwaterski will start her new role on September 15. Seiler will stay on to help in the transition through the end of the year if needed.

Ehlers-Kwaterski was awarded the Governor’s Rising Star Award as the first Executive Director of Visit Rome, WI, Inc., which was incorporated in 2018. She immediately put her passion for the area to work in establishing the non-profit, creating its brand, and implementing organizational structure and financial management. Under her leadership, Visit Rome was awarded a Joint Effort Marketing (JEM) Grant from the Wisconsin Department of Tourism. She also created new print and online media for the organization and established events such as a fundraising concert series and Taste of Rome.

“I have always considered Sturgeon Bay home,” Ehlers-Kwaterski said. “I am so excited about the development and progress Sturgeon Bay is making and look forward to being part of the future. Destination Sturgeon Bay is doing great things! It is such a privilege to be part of the team promoting a Destination so special to my upbringing.”
