Destroyers Crush Slinger Slayers

In the third week of Wisconsin State Football League action, the Door County Destroyers continued their winning ways when they traveled to Slinger on Aug. 16 to take on the Slayers at Slinger High School. The Destroyers came out hot and scored five times within the first six minutes of the game to take a commanding 35-0 lead.

The lead was never challenged as they cruised to a 63-0 victory. With the win, the Destroyers improve to 3-0 on the WSFL season.

Destroyers Quarterback Alex Whitney was 6-6 for 123 yards and three touchdowns. He also added a 45-yard touchdown run.

Running Back Jake Wickman had eight carries for 68 yards and two touchdowns. Bob Brown pitched in three carries for 42 yards and two touchdowns. Wide Receiver Aaron Solie had two catches for 46 yards and two touchdowns.

Defensively, Cornerback Victor Williams led the team with two interceptions and Defensive Tackle Brian LaRoche added a sack and a forced fumble.

Return Specialist Andre Wilson had 108 punt return yards with a 62-yard return for a touchdown.

The next game is against the Dodge County Braves on Saturday, Aug. 23, beginning at 4 pm at Baileys Harbor Rec Park.
