Destroyers Earn Playoff Berth

The Door County Destroyers took a third consecutive win on Sept. 28 and earned a spot in the Wisconsin State Football League (WSFL) playoffs by defeating the Outagamie County Outlaws 37-28 at Baileys Harbor Rec Park.
It was anybody’s game in the first three quarters, with both teams standing at 21 points going into the 4th quarter, but the Destroyers added two more touchdowns and a field goal to clinch the game and the playoff spot.
On offense, Chris LeCloux was four for five, passing for 74 yards and two touchdowns. Jake Wickman ran for 71 yards and one touchdown. Andre Wilson had six receptions for 98 yards and three touchdowns.
On defense, Bryan Beachler led with eight tackles, two for loss, 2.5 sacks, one forced fumble, one pass deflection and three punt blocks. Greg Johnson had six tackles. Sean Tackett had three tackles, one for loss, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.
The Destroyers are now 6-3 in league play and 7-3 overall. The Outlaws are 3-6 and are out of the playoffs.
The Destroyers are off this weekend – Week 11 for the WSFL – and next play for the WSFL North Division title when they host the division leading M&M Timberjacks, who are a half-game up on the Destroyers, on Saturday, Oct. 12, 1 pm, at Baileys Harbor Rec Park.
