Detjen Named Artist in Residence

Award winning sculptor Randy Detjen has been named artist in residence at Wisconsin Cheese Masters in Egg Harbor. A woodcarver for more than 40 years, Detjen specializes in “wall sculpting,” creating large-scale plaster relief murals for residential and commercial spaces.

In 2011, Detjen created a Wisconsin farm scene for the Wisconsin Cheese Masters shop. Spanning an entire wall, the mural features rolling hills typical of Wisconsin with dairy farms, barn and pasture. Cows, sheep and goats represent the three kinds of milk used in the cheeses the shop carries.

Detjen also creates lighted shadow boxes created from old windows and barn board framing a relief art piece, and framed, picture-style pieces. They can be customized through individual commissions, reflecting the customer’s décor, style, hobbies, etc. He is in residence at Wisconsin Cheese Masters creating art pieces every Saturday and Sunday through October.

Wisconsin Cheese Masters is located at 4692 Rainbow Ridge Court, on Hwy 42 just south of Egg Harbor.
