Dick Skare Benefit Concert Features Door County Musicians

Join some of Door County’s finest musicians for an afternoon of music and fun at a concert that celebrates hope, progress, and justice. Proceeds from the concert, “Teach Your Children Well,” which will take place on Sunday, September 19 from 4 – 6:30 pm, will benefit the campaign of Dick Skare, candidate for the State Assembly from Door and Kewaunee Counties. Suggested donation is $10 per person, with a $25 maximum for families.

Families are encouraged to bring a picnic dinner to enjoy during the concert. Cold beverages will be available.

Five different musical acts will perform at the benefit, presenting family-friendly music that speaks to the lessons a community would like to pass on to their children and grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Well-known Door County folk musician Katie Dahl will host and perform at the afternoon concert, accompanied by percussionist and bassist Rich Higdon. Audiences will also be treated to music from singer-songwriter Jeanne Kuhns; bluegrass from popular band Highland Road (Andy Coulson, Tad Gilster, Tony Gebauer, and Rick Gordon); folk rock from violinist Lynn Gudmundsen and guitarist David Hatch; and great sounds from guitarists Jess Holland and Nick Hoover of the Nicks.

Reservations are encouraged but not required. The benefit concert will be held at the Podgers/Johnson barn located at 9460 Maple Grove Road (at Gibraltar Road) in Fish Creek, Ephraim.
