Dickinson Poetry Series Features Michael Farmer

Michael Farmer will be the featured poet in the UU Fellowship’s Dickinson Poetry Series on July 13 at 7 pm. An open mic will follow Farmer’s reading.

Farmer, a poet from Baileys Harbor, describes himself in the as “short and sweet.” This is true in person, personality, and poetry. Farmer’s writing is characterized by and noted for an American style of haiku – short, but very penetrating. Here is an example:

“Perennial crop / The garden fares far too well / White marble crosses…”

The reading will feature haikus, as well as poems influenced by Farmer’s interest in the Native American flute.

Farmer’s appearance in March was cancelled due to an ice storm. Al and Sarah Stuart were originally scheduled for July; however their move away from Door County has provided an opportunity to reschedule Farmer.

The Dickinson Poetry Series, now in its third year, is held the second Wednesday of each month, offering an opportunity for both experienced and new poets to share their works. The series is free and open to the public.

The UU Fellowship is located at 10341 Highway 42 in Ephraim. For more information visit http://www.uufdc.org or call 920.854.7559.
