Dickinson Poetry Series Features Rolf Olson

Rolf Olson is the featured poet in the UU Fellowship’s Dickinson Poetry Series on March 13 at 7 pm.

Olson has called Door County home since 1980. He has been a craftsman in wood and metal for 25 years, working as a boat builder and joiner, designing and building doors, cabinets, furniture and functional objects in wood and metal.

Olson began seriously to write poetry about 14 years ago. He writes about a wide variety of subjects and describes his poems as “bold, thought provoking, and entertaining.” Others have described Olson’s poems as “spare, fun, intense, and Zen-like.”

He is pleased to have been a member of the “Unabridged Poets” group for nine years. Olson’s first chapbook, One Glass Eye, was published in 2003, and his next book, Riot at the Poets’ Café, is currently in final editing.

On the second Wednesday of every month the Dickinson Poetry Series features a reading by a local or regional poet followed by an open mic and reception. The public is welcome, and admission is free.

The UUF is located at 10341 Highway 42 in Ephraim. For more information visit http://www.uufdc.org or call 920.854.7559.
