Dickinson Poetry Series Features Young Poets

An accomplished group of young poets from Gibraltar High School will be featured at the Dickinson Series reading on Feb. 8 at 7 pm at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship (UUF) in Ephraim. Now in its third year, Youth Poetry Night has become an annual tradition for the UU poetry series.

This fine group of poets was identified and prepared by Lauren Bremer, an English teacher at the school: Brandon Bogenschütz, who enjoys music and writing, which he often showcases in The Viking Voice; Hope Bogenschutz, who likes to read and play with her dog, Cooper; Katelaine (Katie) Buske, who enjoys writing lyrical poetry that could be put to song; Anya Kopischke, who divides her time between theatre, music, art, and writing.

Other poets will include Alicia Mickelson, who writes about anything that sparks her imagination; Taylor Syers, who enjoys writing poetry influenced by nature and natural human emotions; Jasper Whalen, who has as much talent for mathematics as for making people laugh; and Leah Zielke.

The Dickinson Poetry Series is presented by the UUF of Door County on the second Wednesday of every month. A reception follows the readings affording an opportunity to meet the poets. The event is free and open to the public.

The UUF is located at 10341 Highway 42 in Ephraim. For more information visit http://www.uufdc.org or call 920.854.7559.
