Dietitian Stephanie Nelson Joins St. Vincent Hospital

HSHS St. Vincent Hospital Cancer Centers announced the board certification of registered dietitian, Stephanie Nelson, as a specialist in oncology nutrition.

Nelson has provided dietetic services to patients at HSHS St. Vincent Hospital Cancer Centers since 2015. She provides dietary guidance to support a patient’s cancer treatment, as well as combat the symptoms of cancer and side effects of treatment. Recently, she completed 2,000 hours of practice experience and passed a rigorous national exam by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) to become one of just 20 board-certified oncology dietitians within the state of Wisconsin.

“This specialization helps me stay focused within the oncology field to provide information based on science and not trends,” said Nelson. “In a time when misinformation can be easily found online, nutrition can be overwhelming and confusing. My practice is focused on understanding cancer treatments such as chemotherapy drugs and how they affect essential nutrients.”
