Dinner With General Grant

The Door County Historical Society (DCHS) hosts its monthly dinner program, “An Evening with General Grant,” presented by Wayne Issleb on June 25, 6 pm at Union Supper Pub in Sturgeon Bay.

Issleb, portraying Grant, takes the audience on a journey from his young years to the very end, back to the cottage where he had just days to live. Grant narrates his most important moments in life, which eventually brought him to the presidency. Dressed in a blue frock coat and epaulets with three stars on the shoulders, a black slouch hat and carrying a cigar, Issleb looks like the general who led Union troops to victory and became America’s 18th president.

Union Supper Pub is located at 23 W. Oak Street in Sturgeon Bay.

Dinner includes your choice of smothered grilled chicken breast topped with mixed peppers over rice pilaf; stuffed roast pork with apples, raisin and herbed baby reds; or vegetable cannelloni with vegetables, ricotta cheese and béchamel sauce. Sides include a tossed green salad with balsamic vinaigrette, dessert, coffee or tea. Dinner and program fees are $23 for Society members and $28 for guests. Doors open at 5:30 pm and dinner starts at 6 pm. Arrive early for check-in and seating.
