District Attorney to Consider Storage Shed Break-In Charges

Charges for a Sturgeon Bay man and an Algoma-area man have been referred to the Door County District Attorney’s Office. The two have been linked to multiple storage unit break-ins dating back from late August 2016 through mid-March 2017. The break-ins occurred at a number of storage unit complexes located in northern and southern Door County, as well as the City of Sturgeon Bay. Search warrants executed at the homes yielded the recovery of tools, sporting goods, household goods, vintage toys and collectibles. To date, the Door County Sheriff’s Office has been able to return much of the recovered property to its rightful owners, but a number of unclaimed items still remain. The sheriff’s office asks that all storage unit owners or renters make a point to check their properties, and to contact Investigator Mark Winkel at 920.746.2430, if they discover they have been the victim of a break-in.
