Dixie Jorns Retires After 28 Years at Door County Library

Born and raised on Washington Island, Dixie Jorns worked for the Door County Library for 28 years, starting as a volunteer when her youngest daughter began attending story time in Egg Harbor and then holding positions as Branch Manager in Egg Harbor and Sister Bay in turn, before rounding out her career as Technical Services Cataloger. Upon retirement on March 6, one might find Dixie tapping maple trees with her son, visiting her grandchildren, or at the local farmers markets where she’s come full-circle growing her first business making preserves and fruit products, and now will be selling maple syrup. “I’ve worn many hats, but I’ve enjoyed getting to know people. I will miss that the most.”
