DKREA Celebrated Teacher Appreciation Week

The Door-Kewaunee Retired Educators’ Association (DKREA) thanked all public-school employees in the two counties during Teacher Appreciation Week, May 6-10, by giving each a DKREA pen. The attached note thanked them for their dedication and commitment to public education.

Members of the Wisconsin Retired Educators’ Association (WREA) met recently in five locations throughout the state to exchange information and highlight educational challenges and issues. To support Wisconsin schools, the WREA Foundation awarded $2,000 in each location to recognize an innovative, middle-school-level project. The District II runner-up was Washington Island Middle School, which received $250.

DKREA members were also recognized for providing 3,086 volunteer hours, valued at $74,064, to more than 25 organizations in the Door-Kewaunee area.
