Do You Dare?

The Door County YMCA encourages people to live a healthier lifestyle everyday, but on Labor Day Weekend, they dare everyone to compete. Do you dare attempt a ½-mile children’s run, 5k-run/walk or duathlon, which includes a two-mile run, 12-mile bike and two-mile run, on Aug. 30?

If so, registration opens June 1 for the Door County YMCA’s Labor Day Weekend Duathlon & 5k held at the Northern Door Program Center, located at 3866 Gibraltar Road, Fish Creek. Price increases will occur on July 15 and Aug. 15 for the duathlon and 5k. Duathlon fees are: $35 through July 15, $40 through Aug. 15 and $45 Aug. 16 through race day; $60 for pairs registration. 5k run/walk fees are: $20 through July 15, $25 through Aug. 15 and $30 Aug. 16 through race day. Youth age 8 – 17 are $15 for the 5k event, and children up to age 8 are $10 for the children’s run.

The events kick off at 8 am with the duathlon, followed by the 5k run/walk at 9:45 am and wrapping up with the ½-mile children’s run at 10:15 am, with an award ceremony to follow. Participants in the duathlon and 5k will be awarded age group awards and every participant in the children’s run will receive a medal. Refreshments, including root beer floats, and t-shirts will be provided. Registration forms are available at doorcountyymca.org or by calling 920.868.3660.
