Dominick Meyer Wins Door County Half Marathon

Dominick Meyer took first place in the 4th annual Door County Half Marathon Saturday at Peninsula State Park in Fish Creek, WI.

Meyer finished in 1:12:24, topping a field of 1,223 finishers. Damian Bednorz came in second in 1:14:14, just three seconds ahead of Eric Pilling.

Annie Weasler took the women’s title in 1:30:48, followed by Carolyn Freeman (1:31:30) and Andrea Dalebroux (1:32:10).

The top local finisher was Jake Danen of Baileys Harbor in the half marathon with a time of 1:30:46 (19th overall). Annie Bley of Egg Harbor was the top local female finisher with a time of 1:35:50 (7th overall among women). In the 5k, Tom Mulinix of Sturgeon Bay was the top Door County finisher with a time of 21:28, good for 9th overall, while Chloe Volkman of Brussels was the top female finisher in 22:10 (4th among women).

Over 1,500 people registered for the race, up from 1,200 in 2010. An additional 485 ran the Nicolet Bay 5K, up from 419 last year.

Next year’s Door County Half Marathon is May 5, 2012.
