Donations Needed For Therapy Dog

The Door County Sheriff’s Office Crime Prevention Foundation is asking for financial support to provide a therapy dog to local first responders. Therapy dogs used by law enforcement are distinct from K-9 units, which are used for police tasks such as tracking, search and rescue, and drug detection. Situations where therapy dogs are helpful include crisis response after a traumatic event, providing comfort to those navigating the criminal justice system, and providing emotional support to law enforcement officers. A gift to the Crime Prevention Foundation will help make a therapy dog a reality for the community and offer ongoing support to K-9 units and other crime prevention activities.
