Door 2 Door Fees Increasing

The Door County Transportation Department will increase fees for Door 2 Door Rides and the ADRC bus and van service in 2020. Fares for Door to Door (D2D) will increase by 25 to 50 cents per ride beginning Jan. 1, 2020.

Fares in the Orange Core Zone in Sturgeon Bay will increase from $1.75 to $2 and from $3.50 to $4. Fares within zones will change from $3.25 to $3.50 and $6.50 to $7.00. The $10 fare to cross zones will remain the same.

Pam Busch, the county’s new transportation manager, said the fare increases will help maintain the services.

“I feel the riders know the importance of these fare increases to support the overall system,” she said. “A fare increase is definitely better than ending these services.”

Public-hearing attendees learned about the changes during the Door County Administrative Committee meeting Nov. 19.

The D2D connector routes provided by Sunshine House and the ADRC will end on Dec. 31 due to low ridership. The D2D vans will continue to be available in the connector areas, but 24-hour notice will be required.

Fares for the ADRC bus service will double from $1 to $2 per stop. Lunch trips to the ADRC will cost $2 round trip.
