Door Community Auditorium Features World-Renowned Musicians

On Tuesday, June 29, the Door Community Auditorium will host three of the world’s most respected musicians. Béla Fleck (on banjo), Zakir Hussain (on Indian tabla drums), and Edgar Meyer (on string bass) form a powerhouse trio, blending classical, bluegrass, and world music in a captivating evening of genre bending and musical wizardry.

Béla Fleck is considered one of the most skilled banjo players in the world. Fleck has presented his unique brand of banjo music for the past three decades, playing classical, jazz, bluegrass, and everything in between. Winner of 11 Grammy awards, he has been nominated in more categories than any other artist.

Percussionist Zakir Hussain has long been a pioneer in the realm of international music, forging countless connections between musical ethnicities and genres. Hussain is known for his energetic, exciting performance style, both in his native India and around the world.

Bassist Edgar Meyer brings to the trio a gift for composition that earned him a 2002 MacArthur Award. Meyer, also a Grammy Award winner, has collaborated with artists as diverse as Yo-Yo Ma, James Taylor, and Alison Krauss.
