Door Community Auditorium Presents “All is Calm”

Nov. 26, The Door Community Auditorium will feature All Is Calm, the true story of the way a young soldier’s courage led to an extraordinary night of camaraderie, music, and peace.

Performed by acclaimed Twin Cities vocal ensemble Cantus and Theater Latté Da, All Is Calm tells the story of the Christmas Truce of 1914, in which soldiers on both sides of World War I set down their weapons and entered into no man’s land to celebrate Christmas together. Writer Peter Rothstein and musical arrangers Erick Lichte and Timothy C. Takach use a cappella arrangements of European carols and war songs to recall the peace and friendship that night engendered, as well as the many questions it raised.

According to arranger Erick Lichte (who also serves as Artistic Director of Cantus), All Is Calm serves as a powerful reminder of the best impulses behind the holiday season.

“You can lose sight as to why you’re singing…Christmas music,” he says. “And I think this story reminds us. It is about peace on Earth, goodwill toward men – that’s not just a thing you sing in a carol you like the tune of.”

Tickets for the 7 pm performance range from $28 to $45 and may be purchased by stopping by Door Community Auditorium, located on Highway 42 in Fish Creek, by calling 920.868.2728, or by visiting http://www.dcauditorium.org. Veterans and students receive will a $5 discount per ticket.
