Door Community Auditorium Upcoming Events

On Jan. 30 and 31, Door Community Auditorium (DCA) will present the third weekend installment of its 2015 lecture, concert and film series. After a Friday evening screening of the film Jens Jensen: The Living Green, DCA will present a morning lecture on Jan. 31 about human rights. The evening will feature a concert of light-hearted, fun-loving music by frequent Door County performer Matt Wahl.

On Jan. 31 at 9 am, DCA’s Distinguished Lecture Series will offer a lecture titled “Hopeful Realism—A Vision for Human Rights After 2014,” presented by St. Norbert College Senior Director of Engagement Dr. Robert Pyne. Pyne will discuss the many human rights challenges the world faced in 2014, including the Ferguson riots, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the Ebola epidemic, and the brutally violent rise of ISIS. In light of these recent events, Pyne will examine the future of human rights across the globe. Pyne’s lecture is free to the public and freewill donations are accepted.

On Jan. 31 at 7 pm, Matt Wahl will present a concert of “fun-loving, sunny-day music” in the DCA Fireside Lobby. Wahl has become a Door County favorite through his regular performances on the peninsula. Wahl sings and plays acoustic guitar, ukulele and harmonica while writing songs to lift audience’s spirits and leave them singing along. Tickets to the concert are $15 for general admission.

Advance reservations are recommended and can be made at the DCA box office, located on Highway 42 in Fish Creek. The box office is open Monday-Friday, 12-5 pm. Tickets can be purchased in person, on the phone at 920.868.2728, or online at dcauditorium.org.
