Door Community Auditorium’s Lecture Series Starts with ‘Student Activism in South Africa’

On Jan. 14 at 10 am, Door Community Auditorium (DCA) will kick off its Distinguished Lecture Series with a lecture called “#FeesMustFall: Student Activism in South Africa,” presented by St. Norbert College lecturer Dr. Jeremy Doughty. Doughty will discuss South African students’ activism, which on the surface appears to protest tuition increases, but in reality calls for the decolonization and transformation of higher education. He will also include his own experiences with protests at the University of the Western Cape and will explore parallels between the #FeesMustFall and #BlackLivesMatter movements.

Doughty’s lecture is free to the public; freewill donations are accepted. DCA is located on Highway 42 in Fish Creek. For more information, call 920.868.2728 or visit dcauditorium.org.
