Door County Art League Features Sherry Mutchler and Marlene Hopfensperger

“Bounty Bayward” by Sherry Mutchler.

During the week of July 31, the Gallery of the Door County Art League will feature artwork by Sherry Mutchler and Marlene Hopfensperger.

Influenced by teachers Bridget Austin and Ed Fenendael, Mutchler’s goal in her watercolors is to “create a sense of curiosity in viewers while expanding the use of brighter colors, contrasts, and negative painting,” she said. Mutchler co-coordinates the gallery and has exhibited at the Hardy and the Link Galleries.

Hopfensperger creates florals that sparkle and remind one of the “riot of color” throughout Door County during the peak of the summer. She will exhibit at many DCAL shows throughout the summer at the Sister Bay Town Hall.

In addition to Mutchler and Hopfensperger, the gallery will welcome Ed Fenendael as the featured Master Artist from the end of July through mid-August. Fenendael was awarded the DCAL Master award in 2008 as an outstanding contributor and arts supporter in Door County. He has influenced many of the artists at the gallery through workshops at his Morning Mist Studio (open weekends) and classes at Peninsula Art School. In addition to exhibiting nationally and internationally, Fenendael owns the Baileys Harbor bed and breakfast, the Inn at Windmill Farms.

The Gallery of the Door County Art League is located in the Top of the Hills Shop, just north of Fish Creek. For more information call 920.868.2288.
