Door County Art League Gallery Opens for 10th Season

The Gallery of Door County Art League (DCAL) opens for its 10th season on May 28, providing a variety of affordable fine art in 2D and 3D work created by 27 Door County exhibiting artists that are members of the DCAL. Watch for special events throughout the season, including receptions, demonstrations, gift certificate drawings and special sales events.

Each month DCAL features a prominent guest artist and each week a member artist is featured. The public is invited to meet June’s featured guest artist and 2015 Master Artist and watercolorist Bridget Austin, and other exhibiting artists, at the reception on May 28, 3 – 5 pm.

Austin’s watercolors have earned her entrance into the American Watercolor Society, National Watercolor Society as well as Signature Membership into Wisconsin Watercolor Society and Master Status in the Transparent Watercolor Society of America. She is famous for her creative use of color and design in negative spaces. She shares her insights, friendliness and wisdom in classes here, nationally and abroad.

The artist of the week for May 28 is watercolorist Penny Pfister. Her specialties include both watercolor and oil and she is a dedicated “doodler.” After shuttling between Menomonee Falls and her summer home in Fish Creek for 18 years, Pfister graduated to full-time Door County resident and artist and is thrilled at the expanded opportunity to depict her favorite Door County scenes.

Visit the DCAL Gallery to view Bridget Austin in June and future monthly guest artists Suzanne Rose (July), Karen DeNoto (August), Mitch Heinrichs (September) and Ed Fenendael (October) or to place a People’s Choice vote for a chance to win up to $250 in monthly gallery gift certificates for artwork.

The DCAL Gallery is located at the Top of the Hill Shops in Fish Creek. The gallery is open daily throughout the season through Oct. 23, 11 am – 5 pm. For more information, email [email protected], visit doorcountyartleague.org, or find the Door County Art League and Gallery on Facebook.
