Door County Art League Hosts Potluck and Sketching Session

Monday, January 28, Door County Art League (DCAL) members will get together to socialize at a potluck dinner beginning at 6 pm at the Gibraltar Fire Department meeting room. The public is invited; please bring a dish to pass, a plate, and eating utensils. Following the potluck will be a sketching session. If you wish to participate, bring pencils and a sketchpad, along with an item for a still-life set-up. The February meeting will offer an opportunity to illustrate ways in which the artists expanded on their sketches.

The league’s winter exhibit continues at Gallery 10 in Gills Rock through February 16. Hours are weekends (Saturday and Sunday) from 8 am – 3 pm. Owner Charlene Berg will hold a cookie reception on February 16 from 1 – 3 pm so the public can meet participating members and peruse their original artwork.

In addition, DCAL’s year-round showcase gallery at Trattoria Dal Santo in Sturgeon Bay will add pieces for a “Winter in Door County” show in February. The restaurant and gallery are located at 147 North Third Avenue.

The Door County Art League was organized in 1986 and incorporated in 1993 for the purpose of developing active community involvement in the field of creative arts. Membership is open to artists and all other persons interested in and supportive of the visual arts in Door County.
