Door County Art League Presents Tom Lidtke

Lidtke’s presentation on June 27 will focus on Wisconsin art, like this pastel painting by Mary Blotti Anderson, a member of the Door County Art League.

The next meeting of the Door County Art League (DCAL) will feature speaker Tom Lidtke of the Museum of Wisconsin Art (MWA). The event will take place June 27 at 7 pm at the Gibraltar Fire Station on County F. The public is welcome to attend.

Lidtke is the executive director of the MWA, which concentrates on Wisconsin art in all media and all timeframes of human habitation in the state. He is the curator of numerous exhibitions on historic and contemporary Wisconsin art, as well as the author of numerous exhibition publications and articles, including one for the German History Museum in Berlin and another for the International Panorama Council based in Europe.

Lidtke has also taught the only college course ever offered on Wisconsin art history and has made Wisconsin art history presentations throughout the state. In 2006 Milwaukee Magazine named him “Best Art Visionary” in its “Best of Milwaukee” issue. Additionally, he is a recipient of a Wisconsin Visual Art Lifetime Achievement Award.
