Door County Art Leauge Celebrates Taste of the Top

The Gallery of the Door County Art League invites the public to enjoy the work of 35 artists during the Taste of the Top festivities at the Top of the Hill Shops in Fish Creek on September 24. The gallery will host a wine and cheese reception on September 25 from 3 – 5 pm.

Open daily from 10 am – 5 pm, the gallery is preparing for the weekend events and the Inside Outside Sale. Many gallery artists are participating in painting Adirondack chairs for a benefit raffle for the Door County Humane Society and may be seen demonstrating and painting inside and outside of the gallery.

During the week of September 25, Mitch Heinrichs and Ron Litterst will be the featured Artists of the Week.

The oil paintings of Heinrichs showcase bold and colorful Door County landscapes. A ceramic tile designer and contractor, Heinrichs designed and built his home on a quarry.

Litterst, a retired attorney, began his watercolor career in a class at Peninsula Art School five years ago. His soft-hued watercolors show his love for Door County scenery and the unique and rural nature of the architecture. His work has been featured and awarded at the Francis Hardy Center for the Arts in Ephraim.

In late September and October, Franne Dickinson will be honored at the gallery as a Master Artist of the Door County Art League. Influenced by the French Post Impressionists, Dickinson began as a student at Peninsula Art School and moved to instructor extraordinaire. An award-winning artist, her bright use of color is admired in her florals and vignettes of Door County. To view her work, visit the Toe Path Studio in Ephraim.
