Door County Art Scene: Children the Focus of Current Miller Exhibit

The Miller Art Museum would like to remind parents and kids of the current exhibition and “park play area” for a fun outing and creative experience. The “Denise Fleming: Children’s Book Illustrator Exhibit” continues through April 14, 2009.

Over 1,500 visitors have already come, much to their delight! Children are finding a cozy play area with tents to hide in, stuffed animals and puppets, puzzles, art projects, and more! Parents will enjoy letting their children play while lounging in chairs set up right in the play area.

Fleming’s artwork is stunning, bright and beautiful. Eighty original works of art representing 13 of her children’s books are included in the exhibit. Adults and children have commented on the magical work in the exhibit and have shared their thoughts in a guest book which will be sent to Fleming after the exhibit closes.

This exhibit is organized by the National Center For Children’s Illustrated Literature of Abilene Texas. Exhibit Sponsors are: Altrusa Club Door County Wisconsin Foundation; Edgewood Orchard Galleries; and Raibrook Foundation, Inc.

The Miller Art Museum, located at 107 S. 4th Avenue in Sturgeon Bay, is open six days a week, Mondays 10 am – 8 pm and Tuesday through Saturday 10 am – 5 pm. Admission is free, and the museum is fully accessible with convenient parking.
