Door County Art Scene: Open House at Great Northern by Design

Great Northern by Design will be hosting a Holiday Open House December 13, from 10 am – 5 pm. Featured at the Open House will be new oil paintings by local artist Daryl Asbury.

Asbury, who is also a musician, feels that paintings are the music that you can see. His work is a type of abstract realism invoked by memories of a place or a feeling. They are an interpretation and painted from memory. With an artist’s eye, he reveals the spirit of something, sometimes haunting, sometimes light and free. The new works include a painting called “Sunset Park,” an interpretation of light and shadows remembered while hiking on a trail in Fish Creek.

The Open House will also include a holiday sale on gifts, with home accents including ceramics, linens, candles, lamps, furnishings and rugs throughout the store. Come and enjoy drinks and snacks while perusing beautiful works of art and home accents.

Great Northern by Design is located in the yellow building across from Sweetie Pies, at The Settlement Shops, 1 mile south of downtown Fish Creek on Highway 42.
