Door County Art Scene: Peninsula School of Art Invites Artists of All Ages to Participate

Peninsula School of Art will open its doors to art enthusiasts of all ages for Community & Family Day on Saturday, January 17, from 10 am – 2 pm. Participants will have access to a variety of art materials in both two and three dimensional media free of charge. Paintings and drawings will be displayed in a Kid’s Gallery Salon in conjunction with Peninsula School of Art’s Guenzel Gallery Salon exhibition being held in the main gallery. Saturday, January 17 is also the last day for individuals to make ceramic bowls for the SOUP! Project.

Parents are encouraged to enjoy the Salon exhibit and view artworks from over 100 local artists, while children ages 3 ½ to 17 work in the studios. Studios 7 and 8 will be open to those wishing to create ceramic bowls for the SOUP! Project, or other small sculptural works in clay. Painting, drawing, mixed-media and collage materials will also be available in the main gallery. Children will be encouraged to view the artworks for inspiration and insight into the artists’ process.

Community Relations Director, Cinnamon Rossman says, “Peninsula School of Art is a great place for kid’s to let off steam, get messy and explore their creative energy.” The Guenzel Gallery Salon exhibition shows the diversity of work from local artists, and Rossman believes that all children will find inspiration within the gallery.

Community & Family Days are free and open to the public. No registration necessary. These projects are supported in part by a grant from the Wisconsin Arts Board and by individual donations.
