Door County Artist Receives International Recognition

Door County artist Jan Comstock will be featured in the Best Of Worldwide Portrait & Figurative Artists – Volume II that will be released in early 2013 by Kennedy Publishing, Williamsburg, VA.

Kennedy Publishing publishes the Best Of America and the Best Of Worldwide Book series, books that showcase the work of artists and artisans from around the world. According to Kennedy Publishing, “Final selected artists were those who exhibited outstanding creativity, style, innovation, skill and uniqueness.”

Comstock was also selected as a June 2012 BoldBrush Painting Contest winner. The competition, sponsored by Fine Art Studios Online, received 712 entries from artists worldwide. Comstock’s entry entitled The Dreamer was selected as one of 11 winning finalists by awards judge Brian Sherwin, who stated her work was “True to life, colorful, portraiture with a flair towards abstraction in regards to the artist’s engaging backgrounds. Sensitivity is paramount, with a hint of the dramatic.” Mr. Sherwin is an art critic, curator, artist and writer based near Chicago, Illinois.

Comstock’s artwork can be seen at Woodwalk Gallery located at 6746 County Road G, south of Egg Harbor, open daily from 10 am – 5 pm or at Erinnwood Studios/Gallery located at 7456 Hwy 57, two miles south of Baileys Harbor, open Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10 am – 5 pm.
