Door County Artist Supports Public Television

Six featured artists, including Connie Glowacki of Door County, have created pieces for this year’s Channel 10 Great TV Auction to benefit Milwaukee Public Television. The artwork will be available for bid during the live televised event that airs April 27 through May 5 on Channel 10.

From kindergarten teacher to professional artist and gallery owner, Glowacki has traveled an interesting path. After taking a hiatus from teaching to raise her children, Glowacki began to paint and within 12 months her watercolor work was being accepted into juried shows and winning awards.

For the next 25 years, Glowacki and her husband traveled the country, attending art shows and festivals. Eventually, the pair decided they’d had enough of life on the road and, in 2008, purchased a space in the Top of the Hill Shops in Fish Creek as a permanent gallery to showcase Glowacki’s work. Now, in addition to painting and running the gallery, Glowacki also teaches half dozen watercolor classes each year.

“As a former kindergarten teacher, I deeply respect and appreciate public television’s programming for children,” said Glowacki. “I’m delighted I can help support the positive and important work it does.”

For the Channel 10 Auction, Glowacki painted “Favorite View.” The piece captures a summer sunset over a marina just as the sun’s rays are touching the bottom of the clouds.

The original of “Favorite View” and 100 prints will be available for bid.
