Door County Beekeepers Dedicate Community Hive

All are invited to the dedication of Door County Beekeepers Community Hive, on Thursday, June 14, at 4 pm, at Crossroads at Big Creek, 2041 Michigan St. Sturgeon Bay. Attendees may visit the hive area, view the comings and goings of the honeybees, and explore beekeepers’ tools and equipment. Enjoy honey lemonade and refreshments after the dedication. This spring the Southern Door AP Literature and English 11 Honors class, led by student editors Gracie Englebert and Zoey Kohler, presented their proceeds from the selling of the class-published book, DC LAW (Door County Land Air Water) during the Door County Beekeepers Club monthly meeting. Working together with DCBC and Crossroads at Big Creek, Southern Door students and teacher Brett Hanson made possible the purchase of a honeybee flow hive, a stand, an observation bench and a collection of pollinator plants. This one-of-a-kind community hive will be used to educate people of all ages who wish to explore the word of honeybees and beekeeping.
