Door County Bluegrass Camp Announces Second Annual Session

The second-annual Door County Bluegrass Camp will kick off with an Instructor Concert at the Third Avenue Playhouse on August 1, and the camp, set at Wagon Trail Resort, is slated for August 2 through August 7. With the resounding success last summer’s camp, hosts Lynn Gudmundsen and Lloyd Michalsen have decided to stage the camp again.

Campers will enjoy morning and afternoon instrumental classes, private lessons, “band” practice, and a variety of elective workshops including:  songwriting, music theory, harmony singing, chart reading and writing, tab, instrument repair and maintenance, contra dance, yodeling, storytelling with music, exploring other instruments, and jam sessions.

Lessons will be taught by a great team of instructors – Eric Lewis, Tommy Burroughs, Lynn Gudmundsen, Chris Cairns, Karen Mal, Paul Sowinski, Julian Hagen, Gerhard Bernhard, and Lloyd Michalsen. The camp will also feature a songwriting workshop taught by published songwriter Julie Carter-Moriva.

The public will be able to hear the campers perform twice during the week at a camp performance, as well as a barn dance in Sister Bay.
