• The first cherry trees in Door County were planted north of Sturgeon Bay in 1896.

• Montmorency is the most popular tart cherry grown in Door County.

• Wisconsin ranks fifth in the nation in cherry production (behind Michigan, Utah, Washington and New York).

• The majority of tart cherries are grown in Russia and Poland.

• Average Cherry blossom time in Door County – mid to end of May.

• Average Cherry harvest time in Door County – mid to end of July.
