Door County Community Foundation Introduces Ellie Helm Foundation

Door County Community Foundation announces the Ellie Helm Foundation – Giving with a Heart. Elizabeth “Ellie” Helm grew up in Fish Creek, a community that supported her and helped shape who she was to become – a lover of the outdoors, animals, kids and the elderly. She believed in touching the lives of everyone she met, no matter how small that touch was. This wasn’t something she did; it was something she lived.

On Sept. 29, 2017, Ellie lost her life suddenly and tragically in an ATV accident. At that moment the world lost an amazing young woman. While her family knew she had impacted their lives, they had no idea just how many lives Ellie’s caring spirit touched and how profoundly others were impacted by her presence. It was not until after her death that they saw just how far and wide Ellie’s light had shone.

To ensure that her legacy of helping others lives, Ellie’s family established a foundation in her name to support the causes and programs that she was so passionate about. Those causes are: supporting educational opportunities and positive life skills development for youth; promoting awareness of depression and preventing suicide among young adults; and bringing joy, meaningful connections and social engagement to the elderly.

The Ellie Helm Foundation is a component fund of the Door County Community Foundation, Inc., a 501(c)(3) public charity. Hence, all contributions are deductible to the fullest extent as allowed by law.
