Door County Community News: Humane Society Celebrates Adopt A Shelter Dog Month

What better time to support the Door County Humane Society (DCHS) than during October – Adopt A Shelter Dog Month! There are many fun and furry DCHS events coming up in October, including the “Lunch, Learn and Lend A Hand” event on Oct. 16 and during Sister Bay’s Fall Fest on Oct. 18 – 19.

“Lunch, Learn and Lend A Hand” at Door County Nature Works in Egg Harbor on Oct. 16. The day includes a trolley ride, lunch, and class on interior design. Cost is $30 per ticket with $10 from each ticket is donated to DCHS. Only 25 tickets will be available for this event. Call 920.868.3042 for tickets or more information.

Sister Bay’s Fall Fest is on Oct. 18 – 19, and the public is invited to join DCHS staff and volunteers Saturday and walk the parade route with their dogs in a mass show of support for their local shelter. Join more than 50 dogs that walk together each year in support of DCHS. Al Johnson’s restaurant will sponsor a food booth and DCHS merchandise will be for sale.

The shelter is located just south of the city of Sturgeon Bay at 3475 Park Drive. Monetary or supply donations are always welcome – especially now, due to a recent influx of pets requiring special care. Staff can be reached by phone at 920.746.1111 or find a new furry friend online at http://www.dooranimals.com.
