Door County Distillery’s Single-Malt Whisky Wins Gold at Tasting

Door County Distillery won a Double Gold medal for its Single Malt Whisky from The Fifty Best.

The Fifty Best recently hosted its first ever American Single Malt Whisky Tasting, where contenders were evaluated for the distinguished “Best American Whisky” awards for 2016. Using professional criteria, The Fifty Best’s panel of judges blind-tasted the single malt whiskies and rated them individually on a 1-5 point scoring system, with 5 being the best. Door County Distillery’s Single-Malt Whisky received 5 out of 5 points and was awarded a Double-Gold Medal for its notes of caramel, honey, vanilla and oak.

Door County Distillery is currently undergoing an expansion that will increase its production capacity. Along with the expansion, the distillery plans to release two new whiskeys, a Bourbon and a Rye, which will debut when construction is complete in early summer.

The complete ranking results, along with tasting notes, are published at TheFiftyBest.com.
