A county highway tri-axle dump truck slid off icy White Cliff Road in Egg Harbor while sanding the road on Jan. 17. Thad Ash, the highway department’s patrol superintendent, said the truck drifted sideways and went over the cliff onto the driver’s side of the truck at 8479 White Cliff Road. Ash said the driver was unhurt and the truck appeared to have sustained only minor cosmetic damage, however he said department mechanics were giving it a thorough check. A wrecker crane from Green Bay had to help retrieve the dump truck. Meanwhile, Ash and the county highway crews are hoping the weatherman’s prediction of 40-degree temperatures for this weekend is correct so some of the icy roads disappear. Ash said crews spent much of Jan. 18 laying down salt and sand on 99 percent of county roads.
