Door County Economic Development Corporation Welcomes Julie Schmelzer

The Door County Economic Development Corporation (DCEDC) has welcomed Julie Schmelzer as its new director of business development, overseeing revolving loan fund programs, existing business programs and small-business support efforts throughout the county. 

Schmelzer joins DCEDC with more than 30 years of experience in community development and public administration, working for counties in Wisconsin and Oregon. She holds a master’s degree in public administration and a bachelor of science degree in urban and regional affairs. Schemelzer was previously the director of operations for the Curry County Board of Commissioners Office in Gold Beach, Oregon

“I’m thrilled to be back home and make a difference in the community I grew up in,” Schmelzer said. “Growing up in Door County, I saw many changes in our economy and challenges for our business climate. I’m excited to have the opportunity to help maintain and improve the economy and work with all our businesses to see them succeed.”
