Door County Episcopal Churches Celebrate Festival of Advent Lessons and Carols

The Episcopal Churches of Saint Luke’s (Sister Bay), Christ the King (Sturgeon Bay) and Holy Nativity (Jacksonport) invite everyone to celebrate the Festival of Advent Lessons and Carols at Holy Nativity in Jacksonport on Dec. 4 at 4 pm. First held at King’s College in Cambridge, England in 1918, the service tells of the coming birth of Jesus through Old Testament readings, hymns sung by the congregation, and choir anthems. Challoner Brown, choir director, has chosen the anthems “Adam Lay Ybounden” by Boris Ord; “Hail! Blessed Virgin Mary,” arranged by Charles Wood; and “Come, Thou Redeemer of the Earth,” arranged by Sir David Willcocks to be sung by the combined choirs of the three churches. All are invited to share in the service at Holy Nativity Episcopal Church, 3434 County V (one half mile west of Highway 57 in Jacksonport).
