Door County Fair to Hold First Firefighter Challenge

This year’s Door County Fair takes place July 31 – August 4 at John Miles County Park in Sturgeon Bay.

Musical acts on the Miller Lite Stage will include: Vic Ferrari, Glas Hamr, Boogie & the Yo-yo’z and Back Home Boys. All shows start at 7:30 pm. Local favorite Mike Raye and his band, The Works, will close out the Fair in the Cellcom Festival Tent at 1:15 pm and 3:10 pm.

Budweiser Grandstand Events include Denil Auto & Trucking Race Mania, the EIS Implement/NEW Motorsports Truck and Tractor Pulls and Vandervest Harley Davidson AMA Flat Track Motorcycle Racing. These events begin at 7 pm. On Sunday at 1 pm, the Door County Cooperative/NAPA Action Auto Demolition Derby will be held.

The Door County Fair along with the Sturgeon Bay Pioneer Fire Company and Jacksonport Firefighters Association will hold their first Firefighter Challenge on Saturday, 1 – 4 pm. The event is open to firefighters from all over Northeast Wisconsin.

Midway rides open at 1 pm (noon on Saturday) and will run through 11 pm.

Area farms will be represented by a wide variety of agricultural and animal exhibits, while 4H Junior Fair events and competitions round out this year’s fair. The Drill Team Competition put on by Stock Horse of Wisconsin will be held on Saturday at 12:30 pm.

Ticket prices (including rides, musical and grandstand events) are $10 before 5 pm. After 5 pm, the price goes up to $12 per person. Tickets are $5 for senior citizens and children five-years-old and younger (who aren’t riding rides) are free. On opening day, fair entry is only $10 for persons riding rides and $5 for everyone else. Parking is free.
