Door County Festival: Fire & Ice Weekend Heats Up Sturgeon Bay

Sturgeon Bay hosts the annual Fire & Ice weekend February 13 – 15. The days will be filled with cool activities featuring a city-wide ice carving competition by local ice artists, along with professional carvers transforming large and small snow blocks into masterpieces.

The snow blocks will be carved in various locations and new this year, several small snow blocks will be available for budding carvers to try out their skills. Event maps with ice and snow block locations will be available at most businesses throughout the weekend or at the Sturgeon Bay Visitor Center office, 36 S. 3rd Avenue, next to the Ladder House.

Starting at 9 am Saturday, carvers will begin the process of turning ice into art. At 2 pm, judging the finished ice blocks will get underway with the awards ceremony scheduled for 4 pm. The public is also invited to vote for their favorite carving for the Peoples Choice Award.

Saturday night, Sturgeon Bay Visitor Center and Stone Harbor Resort host the annual “Fire & Ice” Dinner/Dance and Silent Auction. Enjoy a fabulous meal followed by the award-winning Milwaukee Bucks house band, Streetlife, performing a hot mix of R&B, smooth jazz and contemporary favorites.
