Door County Festival of the Arts Set for August 15

The 7th annual Door County Festival of the Arts is planned for Saturday, August 15 from 10 am – 5 pm, and features the visual, performing, literary and culinary arts of the Door Peninsula.

Activities include artist demonstrations, theatrical, literary and live musical performances, trolley rides and a variety of hands-on art projects for the entire family.

The schedule of events for the day is as follows:

Musical Performances

(All performances take place at Sister Bay’s Waterfront Park Gazebo)

• 10 am:  Birch Creek Ambassadors

• noon:  Jeanne Kuhns & Lynn Gudmundsen

• 3 pm:  Richard Whitney

Children’s Activities:  10 am – 5 pm, Waterfront Park

Join Cy Turnbladh of Hands On Art Studio and his staff in making a variety of fun projects throughout the day. A $3 donation is appreciated and children can make as many of the projects as they like.

Door County Writers at the Literary Tent

• 10 – 10:30 am:  General sale of Door County Books.

• 10:30 – 11:15 am:  Robert Zoschke

• 11:30 am – 12:15 pm:  Maynard Poland

• 12:30 – 1:15 pm:  Norb Blei

• 1:30 – 2:15 pm:  Door County Poets (Nancy Rafal, Ralph Murre, and Sharon Auberle)

• 2:30 – 3:15 pm:  Phyl Mielke

• 3:30 – 5 pm:  Dick Purinton and Hannes Andersen

Historical Tours:  Free Door County Trolley rides to Corner of the Past and other historical sites from 9 am – 5 pm.

Culinary Demonstrations:

(Food vendors will be located at Waterfront Park from 10 am – 5 pm.)

• 11 am:  Chuck Sully of Crusty Uprising – Breadmaking at the Sister Bay Village Hall

• 1 pm:  Chef Janice Thomas & Chocolatier Kathy “Cocoa” McCarthy from Savory Spoon Cooking School – truffles at the Sister Bay Village Hall

• 3 pm:  Guest chefs Jodi Gonzalez and Heidi Penchoff of Sister Bay Trading – Easy ideas for summer entertaining and recipes for sangria and summer salsas at the kitchen of Sister Bay Trading

Visual Art Fair & Artist Demonstrations:

Artist tents located at Waterfront Park, 10 am – 5 pm

Sister Bay Logo Voting:

Join the Village of Sister Bay at the festival information tent to place a vote for the new Sister Bay logo. Open voting will occur from 10 am – 2 pm, with the winner to be announced at 3 pm.
