The locally produced Confessions of a Sailor brought home the award for the Best Religious/Spiritual Film from the New York Tri-State International Film Festival, held Aug. 9-12.
The film tells a modern-day story of shipwreck feature writer Michael Connolly, who visits Door County in pursuit of his career-making series. In meeting a retired mariner, Old Tobe, Connolly’s focus shifts to the 1958 wreck of the Carl D. Bradley on Lake Michigan.
Confessions of a Sailor was filmed primarily in Door County and stars Jennifer Cadena, Andrew Delaurelle and John Schakel Jr. It premiered in February 2023 at the Door County Film Festival.
