Door County Half Marathon Filling Fast

The third annual Door County Half Marathon and Nicolet Bay 5k is filling fast.

Over 700 people have registered to run the 13.1 mile distance in the May 1, 2010 race. The closed road course weaves through Peninsula State Park and has garnered acclaim as one of the best runs in the region.

Participation is capped for the first time this year, with a limit of 1,200 runners for the Half Marathon and 400 for the 5k. At this time last year just 285 had registered, as over 500 runners claimed registrations after March 1. Runners are encouraged to register soon to secure a spot in the event.

There are still registrations available for Door County charities to use for fundraising as well. About 30 of the 100 registrations made available by organizers for free for area non-profits remain.

If you are interested in sponsoring a runner or running on behalf of a Door County charity, contact your favorite Door County charity and tell them that you would like to raise at least $250 for them by running in the 2010 Door County Half Marathon.
