Door County Half Marathon Registration Opens Nov. 1

Registration for the fourth annual Door County Half Marathon and Nicolet Bay 5k, a run in Peninsula State Park, opens Monday, Nov. 1.

The cap for the May 7, 2011 race has been raised to accommodate 1,500 participants for the Half Marathon and 500 for the 5k after the race filled last year with caps of 1,200 and 400.

The 2010 Door County Half Marathon filled to capacity in just its third year.

The fast-growing race has been featured in Runner’s World, Silent Sports magazine, and Tom Held’s Off the Couch blog for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Hailed by Runner’s World blogger Jenny Hadfield as one of the top half marathon courses in the country, the race filled in 2009 as runners flocked to the beautiful closed road course on Wisconsin’s Door County peninsula.

Certified by the USATF, the road course provides runners and fans with panoramic bluff-top vistas of the peninsula shoreline. The course is closed to traffic for the run, a welcome relief to those weary of overcrowded courses on busy city streets, and the scenery can’t be beat.
