Door County High School Art Exhibit at MAM

The Miller Art Museum (MAM) in Sturgeon Bay will exhibit the creative talents of 116 Door County art students from all five high schools and home school students through May 29.

The exhibit is made possible with a collaboration among the MAM and high school art instructors who bring examples of student work in all media, resulting in an expressive array of art by the students.

During the course of the exhibit, many elementary students take tours through the exhibit and are inspired by the work of the high school students. Any school districts interested in bringing students are welcome. Please call ahead to reserve a time and a tour guide will be made available.

Certificates of Participation, Awards of Excellence and Honorable Mention cash awards were presented at a reception April 23. The Door County Art League also donated $100 to each high school art department in the county.

Sponsorship support for this exhibit comes from the Altrusa Club of Door County, Miriam Erickson, Door County Art League, Jacksonport Women’s Club, and Mr. and Mrs. Hermke Timm.

Exhibited on the mezzanine level are the newest 2011 acquisitions to the permanent collection and a newly installed Gerhard Miller Wing.

The MAM, located at 107 S 4th Avenue in Sturgeon Bay, is open Monday from 10 am – 8 pm and Tuesday through Saturday from 10 am – 5 pm.
