Door County Historical Museum Opens for the Season

The Door County Historical Museum is open for the season at 18 N. 4th Avenue in Sturgeon Bay. The museum is open daily through October 31 between 10 am and 4:30 pm. The special events for the season include taxidermy demonstrations by Mike Orthober and Add to the Archives events.

Taxidermy demonstrations are scheduled for June 1, July 20 and Aug. 24. Master taxidermist and naturalist, Orthober, will demonstrate his techniques by mounting a specimen for the museum’s “Seasons of Life” diorama.

The Add to the Archives events are planned around themes: the Great Depression (June 15), World War II (June 22), and Orchard Memories (Aug. 17). At each of these events, the community is welcome to share any stories/photos/artifacts related to the theme. The museum will display the items; photos can be scanned and originals returned.

If you have contributions, call 920.743.5809, email [email protected] or stop by the museum.
