Door County Historical Museum Presents APPLES!

On September 17, the Door County Historical Museum will present a celebration of APPLES! between 10 am – 3 pm. There will be apple treats and a display of items giving an overview of the early history of the apple industry in Door County, including the many contributions of Joseph Zettel to the establishment of fruit growing in our area.

In 1893, Swiss immigrant, Joseph Zettel submitted over 20 different varieties of apples from his orchard to the World’s Columbian Exposition in Chicago and won premiums for several, and the museum has medals and certificates he won for this and other exhibitions on display.
