Door County Historical Museum Seeks Old School Photos and Memories

The Door County Historical Museum is updating their schools display this season and seeking old Door County school photos, memories, and facts that would enhance the display.

If any individual has photos of schools or students using the schools, the museum can scan the photos and return them immediately. Those bringing in photos are encouraged to call ahead to ensure that someone will be available to scan the photos.

Photos will not be the only valuable addition to the display, the museum would like to learn of any memories an individual may have of the buildings that were used as schools for just a few years during World War II when the shipbuilding companies brought in many new workers that required new housing and schools.

The museum will host a schools program on August 20; more details will be released later in the summer. At the event, the public is welcome to see what the museum has in their collection, and perhaps provide more photos to fill the gaps.
